LIBRARY HAS THE ROLE FOR WELFARE
In the National Library of Indonesia National Coordination Meeting held at Bidakara Hotel Grand Pancoran - South Jakarta, Thursday, March 14, 2019, Mercu Buana University signed a Cooperation Agreement with the National Library of Indonesia. The event, which was opened by the Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, was titled "Librarians Working to Realize Librarians Based on Social Inclusion to Improve Community Welfare".
Tjahjo explained that libraries have an important role in the era of information abundance. The library can be a space to find the truth of information and data. So for that the library is part of a strategy to improve the quality and competitiveness of the nation.
"The increase in Literacy is a matter that is very much needed by the Indonesian people as a booster to boost the quality of Indonesian human resources," said Interior Minister Tjahjo Kumolo on the interim event.
In addition to the Minister of Home Affairs, this activity was also attended by Indonesian Literacy Experts and literacy activists. Even more than 2,000 librarians, consisting of Provincial, District, City Library Offices, are members of the College Library Forum and Librarians.
The event was signed jointly by 37 Universities from all over Indonesia. Mercu Buana University is part of a joint signing action to encourage the role of libraries for welfare. This proposal was carried out between Mercu Buana University and the Republic of Indonesia National Library.
UMB Chancellor, Prof. Ngadino Surip with the Head of the Indonesian National Library, Drs. Muhammad Syarif Bando, MM also committed to encourage libraries to have optimal service. For the sake of fulfilling information and data needs for the community. In the future this agreement aims to improve institutional relations in carrying out service activities, development and fostering of libraries in each party's environment.
